Beachfest 2021
Due to the onset of the global Covid19 pandemic, sadly the 2020 Ryno Insurance Downunder Beachfest retro festival was cancelled.
A year on, there is still a global Covid19 pandemic; however, here in Australia, and in particular here on the Sunshine Coast, live is pretty much back to normal, and Downunder Beachfest is back! The dates are Wednesday, June 9 to Sunday, June 13.
The Sunshine Coast boasts home to without doubt some of Australia’s most stunning coastlines and beaches. What you more than likely did not know, is that this beautiful piece of paradise also plays host to ‘Hoons’, this sub-culture of hoons are not of your typical kind, you will not see them rip doughnuts in Coles carparks, were talking about genuine Hot-Rodders.
These creative car enthusiasts are well known for their strong and barely controllable emotion for classic cars. This sub-culture takes its name from the stunning machines they create, which are passionately referred to as Hot-Rods. What are Hot Rods you ask? They are typically old, classic, or modern American cars that have been totally transformed with large engines, lots of chrome, and the occasional flames.
So, what is Downunder Beachfest? It is a festival of all things hot-rod, classic, and custom, right here in our backyard. The event is a five-day gala, there will be a Meet N Greet and Cars Under The Lights at Caloundra Cricket Club on Thursday 10th June. Friday should be the Entrants Breakfast at the Motorboat Club followed by the Suncoast Poker Run then Friday evening the Fuel Doctor Supercruise. Saturday will be the Show n Shine on both ovals at the Caloundra Cricket Club and Sunday will be a couple of Cruises
If you’re into Hot Rods, Classic Cars, Muscle Cars, Classic Motorcycles, even Classic Caravans (as long as it was built prior to 1983), Downunder Beachfest is the only place to be, this time of year.
